Původ:
Achatina albopicta má svůj původ v západní Africe, Keni, TanzániiVzhled:
Achatina albopicta nepatří mezi největší Achatiny. Velikost její ulity sice dosahuje až 17 cm, ale většina šneků dosahuje velikosti okolo 7 -12 cm (této velikosti obvykle dosáhne již během prvního roku života. Ulita má základní barvu béžovobílou a ní jsou tmavě hnědé skvrny. Nově narostlá ulita je vždy světlá, skrvny se na ní tvoří až s postupem času. Důležitým rozpoznávacím znakem je růžový apex (rozpoznávací znak oproti achatina reticulata).
Tělo šneka je světlounce hnědé, béžové až krémově bílé (jeden z dalších rozpoznávacích znaků oproti A. reticulata - mají hlavu stejně světlou jako tělo.Rozmnožování:
Vajíčka Achatina albopicta svou velikostí odpovídají ostatním druhům achatin, jako například A. fulica nebo A. immaculata. Velikost snůšky je až 30 - 200 vajíček.Podmínky chovu:
Vlhkost vzduchu pro Achatina albopicta by se měla pohybovat okolo 80-90%. Substrát by měl být také pořád řádně vlhký. Je dobré dát ho vyšší vrstvu (několik centimetrů), aby se šneci mohli během dne zahrabat. Substrát by i přes vysokou vlhkost měl být pořád kyprý (neměl by se proměnit v bahno, po takovém substrátu se zvířata nerada pohybují). Ideální teplota je o něco málo vyšší než je pokojová, 26°C a je-li to potřeba, je možné vyhřívat podlahu terária. Je li část terária vytápěna, kladou šneci vajíčka na tato teplejší místa.Krmení:
Achatina albopicta není vybíravá a krmit ji můžeme naprosto stejně jako ostatní Achatiny. Základem je sépiová kost, všechny druhu salátu, pampeliškové listí, okurky, ostatní zelenina, kočičí granule a další krmivo. Inspiraci můžete načerpat v sekci „kremení achatin“.Zdroje:
